Understanding the performance management process from the
manager's perspective
Target audience
Line managers, including BU heads
Participants
20 maximum
Objective
Help audience to:
- understand fully the performance management process from a
manager's
point of view
- set a process to align their business with the corporate goals
and corporate strategy
- deal with performance problems.
Outcome
In this workshop, the participants will learn how to set personal goals
for their own teams and how to keep them aligned with the business strategy.
They will cover the performance contract from the manager's perspective:
how to set appraisal meetings, what to say, how to give feedback and
coaching, without forgetting the development aspect of their staff.
They will look at the performance ratings: what they mean and how to
use them.
Finally, through role-plays and practice, they will uncover potential
challenges in dealing with performance problems and what to do with
these difficult cases.
Existing practices might be challenged so that the managers see the
real added value of using performance as a management tool.
