This module challenges managers to re-think their approach to leadership.
In this module you will:
- Examine what it takes to shift an organisation from being merely
good to being great, and then sustaining greatness. This is based on
Jim
Collins' work on how the breakthrough from "Good to Great",
for a number of companies in the commercial sector, has occurred.
- Apply this thinking to the UK environment. Is it possible to build
and sustain a "great" business/division/team? Among
the issues addressed:
- The characteristics of a "great" leader
- A radical look at recruitment and retention
- The limitations of "spin" in a great organisational
culture
- The need for a key organising concept around strategy and tactics
- The importance of a disciplined organisation.
- Reflective management, and the creation of a "learning
organisation".
